Solid dense concrete blocks

Solid dense concrete blocks

Solid dense concrete blocks possess distinctive properties of durability and strength making them an ideal and cost-effective solution for all types of load-bearing walls.

All our solid dense concrete blocks are low carbon as standard - up to an 50% carbon reduction compared with using OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement).

Sustainable aggregates

Sustainable aggregates

Lightweight coursing bricks, blocks and concrete commons are produced using responsibly sourced and sustainable high-quality sands and aggregates.

Our most durable blocks, offering higher strength, robustness and acoustic performance

As the name suggests, solid dense concrete blocks don’t have any voids. They are our most durable blocks suitable for more demanding requirements, offering higher strength, robustness and acoustic performance. With low air permeability and high levels of thermal mass, these blocks can enhance thermal performance within a building all year round.

Many factors influence a block’s density, including the mix design, the water-cement ratio, the characteristics of the aggregates used, and the mixing and manufacturing process. By optimising these factors, we are able to produce solid dense concrete masonry units with the correct density required to meet demanding construction applications.

CCP’s solid dense concrete blocks typically have a density in the range of 1800 -2100kg/m3.

Offering the highest levels of compressive strength

Our solid dense concrete blocks offer the highest levels of compressive strength, ranging from 7.3 up to 22.5 N/mm2 (7.3, 10.4, 17.5 and 22.5 N/mm2).

A figure of 7.3 N/mm2 means the block can withstand a compressive load of up to 7.3 N/mm2 which is adequate for most general projects. The higher the number, the higher the load the block can support.

The blocks are manufactured with a close textured finish suitable for painting.

What are the advantages of solid dense concrete blocks?

They are cost-effective, offering a durable solution for various wall types, including load-bearing and cavity walls.

Due to the solid and dense nature of these blocks, they provide excellent acoustic insulation, limiting both internal noise pollution and loud external sounds, creating a quieter living or working environment

Exceptional thermal characteristics help in maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature throughout the year, being warm in winter and cool in summer, and consequently have the ability to reduce energy bills significantly.

Where are solid dense concrete blocks used?

Due to their strength and durability, our solid dense concrete blocks are ideal for both inner and outer leaves of cavity walls over three storeys high, or where the storey height is more than 2.7m. The blocks can be used for load-bearing walls, partition walls, cavity walls, , boundary/panel walls, panel walls, block and beam flooring and external walls (requires weathering protection such as rendering). As far as ground suitability they can be used for DS1, DS2 and DS3 ground conditions.

The ability to use these blocks in such a  wide range  of applications makes them a popular choice for builders and builders merchants alike.

How are solid dense concrete blocks manufactured?

Our solid, dense concrete blocks are produced using responsibly sourced and sustainable high-quality sands and aggregates.

The manufacturing process of CCP concrete blocks requires precision and quality control. The process begins with the batching of raw materials, which can includes cement / binder substitute, sand, aggregates, and water. These ingredients are mixed together to form a homogenous mixture.

The mixture is then transferred to a block-making machine, where it is press moulded into the desired shape and size.

The blocks are then left to cure for a specific period, which can range from a few hours to several days, depending on the type of block that is being produced. After curing, the blocks are tested for strength and durability before they are ready to be delivered to builders merchants, builders, developers and groundworkers.

Our solid dense concrete blocks are manufactured in accordance with EN1996-1 Group 1 Manufacturing Standard BS EN 771-3:2011.

Are solid dense concrete blocks sustainable?

As standard, all of our solid dense concrete blocks offer up to 50% reduction in embodied carbon, compared with blocks made using 100% OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement). In a world where sustainability is becoming so important, and a prerequisite for many in the construction industry, CCP solid dense blocks offer home builders and groundworkers with a more sustainable option without having to pay a premium.

CCP solid dense concrete blocks are manufactured using our Greenbloc technology, and perform to the same specification, performance, quality and aesthetic characteristics as 100% cement versions.

You no longer have to choose between buying on price and doing the right thing for the planet, as our solid, dense blocks are the same cost as a traditional, higher-carbon OPC block available from other manufacturers.

Same performance, same cost, lower carbon.

Are CCP’s solid dense concrete blocks paint grade?

Our solid, dense concrete close textured blocks are suitable for painting. Their textured finish also provides an excellent surface for rendering and plasters.

What size are CCP’s solid dense blocks?

Our solid dense concrete blocks are available in range of 3 thicknesses (75, 100 and 140mm). The standard face dimensions are 440mm wide x 215mm high and 440mm x 140mm (MIDI).
