Modulite medium dense lightweight concrete blocks

Modulite medium dense lightweight concrete blocks

Modulite medium dense lightweight blocks are specified where thermal efficiency, sound reduction and manual handling conditions are key requirements.

Modulite is available in standard and paint grade finish. Face dimensions 440mm x 215mm. Suitable for ground conditions below DPC (DS1 - 7.3Nmm2 and above). All of our Modulite concrete blocks are low carbon as standard - up to a 50% carbon reduction compared with using OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) with higher grade environmental options also available.

Benefits of Modulite concrete blocks

Modulite medium dense concrete blocks are a type of concrete masonry unit (CMU) that fall in the lightweight description of concrete blocks in terms of density and weight. Modulite medium dense lightweight blocks are produced using responsibly resourced sustainable materials and a recycled content in their make-up. They have a density of between 1350 to 1600 kg/m3.

Greenbloc Technology

All of our Modulite concrete blocks are low carbon as standard – up to a 50% carbon reduction compared with using OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) with higher grade environmental options also available.

Improved thermal insulation

Our Modulite range of medium dense concrete blocks offer better thermal insulation properties compared with solid dense concrete blocks. This is due to their lower density and the presence of more air voids, which consequently helps to reduce heat transfer.

Modulite blocks have a thermal conductivity of 0.48 W/mK compared with 1.11 W/mK for solid dense blocks.

Modulite concrete blocks - easier to handle

Modulite medium dense concrete blocks are easier to handle and work with compared to dense concrete blocks due to their lighter weight. This can result in more blocks being comfortably handled per hour, which reduces the labour costs on a project and improves construction efficiency. Compared with the same density solid sense block they are between 5- 6.9 kg lighter per block and range in weight between 13.2 kg– 18.6 kg.

Structural performance

Our Modulite medium dense concrete blocks provide suitable structural strength for many building applications. Modulite blocks are suitable for load-bearing walls in low to medium-rise buildings and are produced in 3.6N, 7.3N and 10.4N.

Ground condition suitability

All of our Modulite blocks from 7.3N compressive strength upwards, are suitable for DS1.

Modulite - excellent noise reduction characteristics

Modulite medium dense lightweight blocks are specified where thermal efficiency and manual handling conditions are key requirements. The product has excellent noise reduction characteristics and is also extremely resilient to ambient conditions.

Modulite are typically specified for use in externally rendered walls, internal leaves of cavity walls, party walls and interior load-bearing walls. They are also suitable for use in block and beam flooring.

Modulite blocks offer a balanced combination of strength, insulation, workability, and cost-effectiveness, making them a popular choice in various construction projects.
