An award-winning landscaped garden incorporating CCP’s innovative low carbon Greenbloc has recently won two awards at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Tatton Park. The Shooting Star Children’s Hospices Rehearse Garden won both the People’s Choice Award 2021 for Best Large Garden as well as being a Silver medal winner. The Greenblocs were used to create the walls to the garden which was a vibrant re-imagining of how a city driveway could look if we’re prepared to ditch our dependency on the private car.

The garden, designed by Emilie Bausauger and built by Actual Landscapes, was designed to promote a greener lifestyle which made Greenblocs the perfect choice. Greenblocs are the UK’s first cement free ultra-low carbon dense concrete blocks, being some 77% lower in embodied CO2. With the UK governments commitment to achieve net zero by 2050 the demand for low carbon building materials will be seen as a major priority for many businesses.

Tom McDaid, Group Head of Sales for CCP who produced the blocks said “We were delighted that the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices Rehearse Garden won the Peoples award. The design was fantastic and the message of reducing our environmental footprint was something very close to our heart. Greenbloc addresses a key challenge in the building products industry which is reducing the amount of embodied CO2 found in products using OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement).”
